With the rise in crimes against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, the Greater Tampa REALTORS® (GTR) wants to reiterate our commitment to a world without discrimination and violence.
GTR is proud that Tampa is one of the most diverse cities in the country, and the AAPI community is an integral contributor to what makes our region great. The most recent census data shows that nearly 20% percent of the REALTOR® agent population of the Tampa – Stellar MLS identifies as Asian. According to the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council’s (A3PCON) Stop AAPI Hate tracker, nearly 3,800 acts of violence against the Asian community across the country have been reported in the last year alone. Many more have likely gone unreported. While hate crimes overall have decreased by 7% according to an analysis by the Center of the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, hate crimes targeting Asian people increased nearly 150% in the last year.
